Hi Everyone!
I feel very fortunate to be part of such a wonderful group of people! Here's a little bit about me:
I'm 29, married, and I live in Santa Rosa, CA. I work full time as the Senior Graphic Artist for Product By Design, INC. in Santa Rosa. I also enjoy working on fun freelance projects and recently started my online portfolio:
racheledler.com
I have always been interested in insects and had a giant collection of dried bugs when I was little. I spent most of my childhood at my grandmother's house out in the country where I encountered snakes, waterbugs and a whole bunch of interesting insects. Not many people shared my passion for creepy crawlies as I was growing up, so I was so glad to finally find a group of people with the same interests. My first official "pet bug" was a hissing cockroach I picked up at a flea market. A few years later I got my first tarantula, and I was hooked. I now have a whole room full of critters. Snakes, T's, frogs, a turtle, cats, salamanders, etc.
This year I hope to start breeding cornsnakes, and eventually kingsnakes and ball pythons. I'm also a member of the North Bay Herpetological Society which is a great group of people who are very passionate about reptiles. They put on the reptile bazaar in Petaluma every year, which is always a lot of fun.
I look forward to seeing SFBATS grow and meeting new members. I think 2009 is going to be a great year!
